Prof David Handelsman

David Handelsman AO MB BS PhD FRACP FAHMS is Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology and Andrology, University of Sydney. Inaugural, and now Emeritus, Director of the ANZAC Research Institute and founding Head of Australia’s only Andrology Department at Concord Hospital. His discovery, clinical and public health research into androgen physiology, pharmacology and toxicology has produced over 600 peer-reviewed papers as the most cited author internationally on androgens or testosterone. In anti-doping science and medicine working with WADA and international Federations, his contributions have been in identifying androgen doping, TUEs for testosterone and eligibility regulations for transgender and intersex athletes in elite female events.
