Dr Samuel LING

Samuel Ling is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Foot and Ankle surgery and has a special interest in Sports Medicine. He has led the Foot and Ankle clinical team at the Prince of Wales Hospital since 2018.

Samuel has also helped coordinate the MBChB undergraduate teaching in orthopaedics and traumatology, is an MPhil / PhD supervisor, and is the assistant director of the MSc in Sports Medicine and Health Sciences programme.

His research interests span clinical trials and basic science, emphasizing Achilles Tendinopathy, Hallux valgus, Ankle Instability, and Regenerative Medicine. In addition to presenting his research papers, Samuel has increasingly been invited to lecture internationally at major conferences and workshops.

Samuel has had the opportunity to serve the foot and ankle and Sports Medicine community both locally and internationally in roles such as President of the Hong Kong Foot and Ankle Society, President of the Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association Foot and Ankle Chapter, Council member of the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies (AFFAS), Board member of the Asian-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy, and Sports Medicine (APKASS), Co-opt council member of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM) and Honorary Secretary for the Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation (the official journal of the HK College of Orthopaedic Surgeons) and on the editorial board of the Journal of Orthopaedic Translation, Asia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation and Technology (AP-SMART), PLOS One and Scientific Reports.

Dr Ling provides medical care for many Hong Kong team athletes and is the team doctor for Kitchee Football Club.
