Dr Bahar Hassanmirzaei

Dr. Bahar Hassanmirzaei is a specialist in sports and exercise medicine with over a decade of experience as the national team doctor for women’s football and futsal across youth and adult categories. She is currently providing care to professional and amateur athletes across all sports, as well as the general population with sports-related concerns. Having football as her main focus of sports, She joined the Aspetar Sports Injury and Illness Prevention Program (ASPREV) as a researcher, focusing on developing and implementing injury and illness prevention strategies in professional football, with applications that extend to other sports. After gaining her medical degree in medicine, she continued her education in the sports medicine specialty for 4 years. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Oslo, Norway, focusing on injury and illness prevention implementation in football, alongside a Health MBA to strengthen her expertise in healthcare leadership and management. She holds different football-related certificates, such as a certificate in Football management from the AFC and Football Business Academy and an AFC Child safeguarding certificate.

Dr. Bahar's career combines clinical expertise, leadership, and a strong research background. She has held prominent roles, including Head of the Medical Department at the Iran Football Federation, Head of Research & Development at the Iran FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, Head of the Education Committee at the Iranian Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine, and Head of the Medical Committee at the Iran Sport for All Federation. As an AFC Medical and Doping Control Officer since 2017 and a member of the AFC Medical Committee (2022–2023), she has been pivotal in advancing football medicine and serving as a medical, doping, and injury officer at national and international tournaments, including AFC Championships and the FIFA World Cup. Her dedication to advancing football medicine earned her the AFC Young Medical Officer Award, recognizing her contributions to football players’ care, injury prevention, medical education in football, and football medicine development.

Dr. Bahar has authored over 40 publications, served on scientific boards, and presented at international sports medicine conferences. Her clinical expertise encompasses sports injury diagnosis and treatment, musculoskeletal care, sports injury prevention, athlete screening, rehabilitation, and advanced treatment techniques and injections.
