Prof Alia Alghwiri is a Physical Therapist who had her Master’s and PhD degrees in neurological rehabilitation from University of Pittsburgh, USA. She is currently the Vice Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Jordan, a board member at the Jordanian Sports Medicine Federation, and the general secretary at the Jordanian Athletic Therapy Association. Clinically, she has been treating patients with neurological disorders specifically, concussion and vestibular disorders and got very good results in improving their level of functioning.
Prof. Alghwiri is interested in the brain and how it affects the physical and mental aspects of the body. She has had more than 40 publications in the areas of vestibular disorders, multiple sclerosis, concussion, sleep, stroke, diabetes mellitus, the ICF, back pain, and plantar fasciitis. Additionally, she contributed as an author in writing "balance and fall" chapter in the third and fourth editions of the "geriatric physical therapy" book and in writing “An Overview of Vestibular Rehabilitation” in the third series of “Handbook of Clinical Neurology” book. She has started several research projects in the area of long COVID-19 to investigate the common symptoms and explore the role of physiotherapy in this area.
