Dr Paul Dijkstra

Dr. Paul Dijkstra is a Consultant Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician and Director of Medical Education at Aspetar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. He recently completed a DPhil in Evidence Based Health Care at the University of Oxford and is one of the founding members of the Young Athlete’s Hip Research (YAHiR) Collaborative. He continues post-doctoral research with professor Siôn Glyn-Jones at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford. He is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar and has published several papers in peer reviewed journals. He co-edited, with professor Trisha Greenhalgh, Edition 7 of the very popular book: How to Read a Paper – the basics of evidence-based medicine and healthcare and contributed to several book chapters—most recently on the team approach to sport and exercise medicine in the sixth edition of Brukner & Khan’s Clinical Sports Medicine. He was UK Athletics Chief Medical Officer to the Beijing and London Olympic Games and continues an active clinical sports medicine practice—now increasingly focused on hip-related conditions in athletes.
